Treehotel offers a truly unique experience with contemporarily designed treerooms in the middle of an untouched environment. You leave the stressful daily life behind. to rejuvenate and enjoy the tranquillity of an intimate and sophisticated setting.THE CONCEPT; The inspiration for Treehotel is taken from the movie “The Tree Lover” by Jonas Selberg Augustsén. A tale of three men from the city who rediscover their roots by building a tree house together. “The Tree Lover” is a philosophical story about the tree’s importance to our people, both historically and culturally. The idea behind Treehotel is to ofer a high-standard accommodation in a harmonious setting where daily stress quickly fades away and guests can enjoy the peace and purity of unspoiled nature. Together with some of Scandinavia’s leading architects, ive uniquely designed treerooms were created in Harads, approximately ity kilometres outside the city of Luleå. The treerooms are located 4-6 meter above ground, all with spectacular views of the
Lule river. A very important part of the concept is to make a minimal ecological footprint. Therefore, the hotel is built around the ecological values in which substantial resources have been devoted to inding sustainable construction and energy solutions. THE EXPERIENCE; Treehotel is located in Harads, approximately ity kilometres outside the city of Luleå. The guest’s unforgettable experience starts with a friendly reception at Britta’s guesthouse before being guided on to their treeroom. Each treeroom is a unique creation by some of Scandinavia’s leading architects. The modern design combined with the serenity of the forest creates an immediate sense of luxurious rejuvenation. Guests enjoy all meals at Britta’s guesthouse served by the hosts Kent and Britta in a genuine Swedish setting from the 1930’s-1950’s. The warm and familiar atmosphere at Britta’s guesthouse combined with the contemporary design of the treerooms create a completely unique dimension for the Treehotel’s guests. Guests who desire privacy can of course choose to have food delivered to their room. A stay at the Treehotel ofers a variety of both summer and winter activities. But many guests choose to mostly enjoy the stillness, timelessness and harmony of the Treehotel and its surroundings. A good book, stunning views and stylish accommodation is suicient to create the feeling that Treehotel is all about. THE TREEROOMS; A total of 24 treerooms are planned in the forest’s around Harads. Today there are ive treerooms completed, which were built in 2010 and designed by some of Scandinavia’s inest architects. The next phase will be
completed in 2012. In addition to the current ive rooms there is a tree sauna among the hundred-year-old pines, seating twelve people. When guests arrive, they check in at Britta’s guesthouse and then proceed with a short, scenic walk up to the treerooms. Treehotel is located in the tall pines with spectacular views over the Lule river. The treerooms are elevated to between 4-6 meters and guests enter either via a ramp, bridge or retractable stairs. Each room is unique; not only the architecture but also furniture, lighting and fabrics are custom designed. The rooms vary in size from 15-30 m2, and the largest rooms can accommodate four people. The daily operation, as well as the construction of the treerooms, is environmentally sound for afecting the natural environment as little as possible. Therefore, each room has a modern, environmentally friendly combustion toilet and water eicient sinks. THE MIRRORCUBE; By Tham & Videgård architects, Bolle Tham & Martin Videgård Doubleroom (queen size bed). The Mirrorcube is an exciting hidingplace among the trees, camoulaged by the mirrored walls that relect their surroundings. The dimensions are 4x4x4 meters. The base consists of an aluminium frame mounted around the tree trunk and the walls are covered with relective glass. To avoid birds lying into the mirrored walls, they have been clad with infrared ilm. The color is invisible to humans but highly visible to birds. The interior is made of plywood and the windows provide a perfect panoramic view. The Mirrorcube offers an excellent accommodation for two people with double bed, bathroom, lounge and rootop terrace.
Guests enter by a 12 meter long bridge leading up to the treeroom. THE CABIN; By Cyrén & Cyrén, Mårten Cyrén & Gustav Cyrén Doubleroom (queen size bed). The location of this treeroom was chosen based on the idea of creating a platform high up on the hillside overlooking the Lule river valley. Guests enter the hut through a horizontal bridge among the trees. At the end of the bridge is a large wooden deck. The bridge is a long and interesting structure among the trees and in the future, additional viewingdecks, restingspots, as well as new bridges can be connected. The Cabin hangs slightly of-center, under the deck. Partly to visually reduce the volume and partly to give the treeroom its own expression. The cabin is like a capsule, a foreign object in the trees. The room is 24 m2 and can accommodate two people, with double bed, bathroom and terrace. THE BIRD’S NEST; By Inredningsgruppen/ Bertil Harström. Four beds (queen size bed + 2 singles) The concept is based on the contrast between the indoors and outdoors. The exterior of the Bird’s nes nothing but, just that, a giant bird’s nest. It provides a camoulage allowing you to quickly disappear an become part of the surroundings. The interior however, is familiar and exclusive. A spacious environment in which a family with two children can comfortably spread out. The walls are clad in wood paneling and windows disappear, almost, in the exterior’s network of branches. The room is 17 m2 and have separate bedrooms, bathroom and lounge. Guests enter with the help of a retractable stairway. THE BLUE CONE; By Sandell Sandberg. Four beds (queen size bed + 2 singles) Wheelchair
accessible. The Blue cone is based on simplicity and accessibility, both in terms of materials and design. The room is a traditional wooden structure with three foundations in the ground, to give a sense of height and lightness, but also to create stability. Guests enter the room via a bridge from the nearby mountainside. The bridge is well suited for people with disabilities. The exterior consists of laminated birch wood and the interior of timber. The treeroom is 22 m2 and has four beds, separate sleeping lot, bathroom and lounge. THE UFO; Av Inredningsgruppen/Bertil Harström. Four beds (queen size bed + 2 singles). While completing with The Bird’s nest, which harmonizes with its surroundings, the idea of creating an environment that was completely “out of place” was born. And what could be more out of place in the forest than a UFO? The room is cast in durable composite materials. All to create the most lightweight, yet strong and durable design possible. The interior gives the room a modern and comfortable feel. The UFO is built for four people: two adults and two children, with separate bedroom, bathroom and lounge. 30 m2 is all you need for a comfortable escape to your childhood dream. THE TREESAUNA; Av Inredningsgruppen/Bertil Harström. A bath in a steamy sauna is much more than just a sauna. A visit to a sauna is a sacred and respectful meeting with the four basic elements: the fertile soil, the burning ire, the fresh air and the clean and drinking water. The treesauna is built for 12 people and has a custom designed relax studio directly adjacent. News from: Treehotel
